I was sent to babysit a film crew taking external shots of The Pentagon.
The Pentagon’s five main entrances on each side are named for their locations.
South Parking, North Parking, The River (faces the Potomac) The Mall (faces the US Mall in DC), and The Heliport (I’m not sure if it’s been renamed after 9/11).
The Mall Entrance is where they were to be filming. Only SES (Senior Executive Service) and other dignitaries could park in the small lot on that side of the building.
They ran around for 3-4 hours, putting in temporary lights in the old decorative exterior lights that no longer worked.
They were waiting for sundown to get the shot.
The shot they wanted was the stairs, entrance, and lights with the western sky at sunset.

“A man with ‘kind eyes’”
I was working evenings at The Pentagon, when one night I received a call to report to the ‘Heliport Lounge’ for an escort.
On the Washington Blvd side of the building was the Pentagon Heliport. It was accessed via a small driveway from Pentagon South Parking.
Today it is the 9/11 Memorial, it no longer exists.
The heliport, like the name implies was a landing pad for helicopters, it had its own three story tower and fire truck.
The 9/11 video of the airplane was taken from the heliport tower.
The base of the tower had a garage and area for the fire crew, and a ‘lounge’ for dignitaries and flight crews.
I pulled up outside the darkened tower. There were two small but tough looking men on each side of the entrance.
I walked in and sitting alone inside was a distinguished looked older gentleman with ‘kind eyes’. He rose from his hair and took my right hand in both of his.
