Bedford VIrginia, the county seat of Bedford County VA is a town of approximately 3200 people.
It is the home of the National D-Day memorial.
Why did they select this small southern in the Shenandoah Valley town to be the location?
On June 6, 1944, the lone Western Union man was busy.
19 of the boys of Bedford were killed on June 6, 4 more died before the invasion was complete.
Bedfords loss was the highest loss proportional to population of any location in the US.
The 29th ID,’Follow Me!’, the ‘Blue and Gray’ division was and is comprised of VA and MD National Guard Units.
