I was in the office today working on a few things and I had to do a Joe Biden video for the A block. I usually work on it on my phone but end up throwing away the practice runs. Here is my first take and then my last take- the final one was shot with Andre but the first one is just me improvising into the phone. You can see the early seed of the idea and where it developed.
Let’s see how it does on the show!
“Ensconsed on Lake Manawa”
Near Council Bluffs IA.
We are right on the lake.
I had an audience backing in our spot.
I usually do, I’ve been backing up trailers in general for 30+ years and The Big Blue Beast for almost 9, so I’ve had a little practice.
The hardest part of our spring move to Montana is backing out of our winter quarters. Which has a curvy driveway, with lots of trees.
A ‘Loves’ truckstop campsite, SW of Boonville MO.
Why anyone would live or buy anything in a ‘Blue State’ is beyond my comprehension.
Diesel was $5.68 p/gal in Illinois, here in MO it’s $4.83 p/gal. I of course didn’t buy any fuel in Ill.
I can’t think of a single thing that folks in Illinois have (other than Chicago) that Missourians and Kentuckians don’t have, that rates an .80 p/gal fuel tax, among all the other ridiculous taxes they pay.
By the way, I don’t take pictures of the pump in order to share my fuel purchases. I use them as a ‘fuel diary’. I take the picture to get the gallons purchased, and the amount of course. I then edit the picture, and add a ‘caption’, which is the mileage.
Therefore I can quickly work out my average mileage.
I also don’t pay the amount shown, I’ve a ‘fleet’ fuel card that gets me a discount. The amount varies, usually at least .10 p/gal, sometimes as much as .40 p/gal.
“I’m going to”
“Kansas City
Kansas City, here I come
I'm going to Kansas City
Kansas City, here I come
They got some crazy
Little women there
And I'm gonna get me one.”
———
First of all, we are going around Kansas City, and I’ve already got a crazy little woman…
She’s crazy because not only did she ‘pick me’, but she’s stayed with me for almost 47 years.
We are now headed to the IA state park, Lake Manawa, in Council Bluffs, and we are to meet @CBMichael for supper.
My lovely Navigator extraordinaire found the state park. It has a site on a lake with full hookups for only $26.00.
Short day today only about 5 1/2 hours of driving. It’s stressful pulling the Big Blue Beast through metro areas with construction and ‘Jersey barriers’ right on the line with no shoulders.
Last night, my formerly expansive derrière was worn out, and I went to bed at 21:00 after almost falling asleep in my chair.
