I opened up twitter today and saw that Lanny Poffo was trending, then the first tweet I saw was “happy birthday Lanny Poffo”, and I thought “whew…”
But of course, after scrolling down I could see that Lanny had indeed passed away.
He was always great to have on the old radio show, and two years ago I called him up and did a spontaneous podcast with him from his home in Equador.
A great guy!
This is the gag that I've been doing at the end of my show- it's different every time because I'm working it with local guys. But these guys had to be the best so far- with no rehearsal they pulled off the "heckling barbershoppers" routine. And their singing was great too. Have a look.
Was at your show last afternoon in Sugar Land with Greg. Fantastic, loved your performance and others and Greg's part was great with the slide show and the history. Your routine about the old commercials and how the people our age survived all of that era. It reminded me, being a "parrot head" of one of Jimmy's songs that is about "we are the people are parents warned us about". Truly enjoyed the afternoon, Thanks and keep up the good work.
